I was out and about on Saturday when I got a call from Atom. Atom is in The Honorary Title, and I thought he was out with the Format. It turns out that his band had broken off and was now touring with Cartel. He let me know that he was in town and to come down to the show. I did.
I got down to the Marquee Theater around 6pm. I checked in and said hello to everyone. Atom, his dad, Aaron, Jarrod, and I went to get some dinner at Pita Jungle. The food was fantastic. I haven't had it in years but have been craving it every day since. Marty joined up with us and we went back to the venue. We had an hour, so we all spent some time catching up.
After some time, The Honorary Title took the stage. They performed songs from their new album, Scream And Light Up The Sky. The set was fantastic. The songs were perfectly executed and the lights were dead on. If you don't have this album already, go out and buy it. After a 45 minute set, their time was up and they bid Phoenix a fond farewell.
After a quick set change, Cartel was up. They are out supporting their new album, Cartel. You may recognize them from MTV's Band In The Bubble. The stage was set and the crowd was excited. Double spotlights began circling the stage, to which Cartel walked out. They played a huge set, performing for almost 75 minutes. They closed the set out and the day was done.
Atom and I left after loading out. We went over to the Rogue for a couple of beers and met up with some people. After a while, we cruised back to the hotel to meet up with the rest of the band. At this point, it was 1 am and nobody wanted to go out any more. I headed back to my house to get some rest from the great day.
If you haven't seen The Honorary Title and Cartel on tour yet, make sure you do.
