The Circle Jerks - Tucson - June 2022

After the night before, I was excited to see The Circle Jerks in Tucson. It had also been a very long time since I had seen them there and back to back shows was a hell of a treat.

I woke up well rested and relaxed. The drive the night before was a little harrowing, so it felt great to sleep well. I was at the Home2Suites near the venue and the room was great. Plenty of room, a small kitchen space, and a big fridge. I woke up and lounged around for a bit before starting the day. As it got closer to noon, I got ready and headed out.

One of the first stops was Brooklyn Pizza to fuel up. I love the place and never get good pizza. With my stomach full, I headed out to explore Tucson. Greg wasn't available to hang, and that allowed me to explore. Many days that I am out with friends, the whole day is booked solid. With the day free, I leisurely made my way to east Tucson and back. I stopped at a number of thrift and gaming stores, enjoyed the traffic, and took in all of the different styles of homes and neighborhoods that the city has to offer.

As the early afternoon arrived, I headed back to the hotel. I lounged around for a bit before deciding to get a few more slices for dinner. Despite the heat, I chose to walk. It was 20 mins each way, but well worth it. I headed back to the hotel, watched some tv, and relaxed. I lost track of time and headed to the Rialto Theater around 8.

I missed Negative Approach again but caught The Adolescents. The Circle Jerks hit the stage and tore into the set. I was up front for the first third before moving to the back for the remainder. I'd forgotten earplugs the night before and my ears were hurting a bit. The band played a similar set to the night before. The crowd was really into it and I enjoyed seeing them live again. After 75 mins, they thanked the crowd and left the stage. I walked back to the hotel, got settled in, and got to sleep.

I woke up on Sunday well rested. I milled around the hotel for a bit before gathering my things and getting moving. I grabbed a few more slices from Brooklyn and made my way back to Phoenix. It was a fantastic weekend, I'm glad I got to see the guys on stage again, and I look forward to the next time I can see them.
