Flagstaff - May 2022

I've known Jeff for 16 years. I met him when I interviewed for his old job. He had no need for a vested interest in me, but he took one. We became good friends and he was the one with me when I leapt off a fence an broke my foot. He's met an amazing woman, was marrying her, and I was invited to help celebrate. I absolutely would not miss it.

Life had gotten very busy. I'd been promoted and there was a lot going on at work. I had a lot on my mind on the week leading up to the event. Thankfully, I was off at a reasonable time on Thursday. I headed first to my sister's house to drop off some stuff for my mom. From there, I headed north.

The drive up was pretty great. Not a lot of traffic and a smooth flow. I grabbed some grub on the way and got into Flag. I was able to do a little shopping, got to the hotel, and got settled. I wound down with a couple of beers in the hotel bar, called it a night, and got some rest.

The next day was much busier. I got up and did a little shopping. I got to to the hotel, checked in, and got ready. From there, I headed to the Arboretum for the ceremony. I caught up with Paul, connected with Dana and Tim for the first time in a long time, and watched a beautiful ceremony. We jumped in our cars and headed downtown.

We all headed to the reception and hung out for a very long time. I connected with old PetSmart peeps, enjoyed great food and company, and took in the sights. I really enjoyed seeing such a great friend embrace all of the happiness in his life. We headed downstairs for a last drink. I hung out with everyone, caught an Uber back, and called it a night.

I had told Paul that I would hit him up when I woke up. I did and we met up for lunch and got burgers. We sat in the shadow of Mt. Humphreys, which he have committed to climb. We got lunch, had a hell of a time, and headed back to Phoenix.
