Special Ed Returns To Los Angeles

Special Ed recently returned to Los Angeles. The trip was amazing and details are below..

I worked all day Wednesday, October 10. I had a number of meetings that I could not get out of. I left work, stopped by the house to change clothes and grab my things. By 5PM, I was headed out and on the road. This was the first big drive in the newer car. The last time that I was in LA was 2 years ago when I bought it. The ride out was incredibly easy. There was minimal traffic and the weather was gorgeous. I got into Encino around 11 and got settled into my hotel. There was a Target directly up the street and it was open until midnight. I decided to make a quick run, get some energy drinks, and then call it a night.

Thursday saw me getting up, getting a light breakfast, and then hitting the road. I drove by a friend's house, got the car washed, and then grabbed a few packs of Magic cards. It was nice driving around LA but it was approaching noon and I wanted to get to Hollywood. I built the trip around visiting some friends and wanted to get on the move.

I showed up at the studio at noon and got to say hello to everyone. The gang as a whole was working on the new album, so I tried to keep my head down and stay out of the way. I made a quick run to Astro Burger and got lunch and then headed back. I left around 4:30 and headed to Santa Monica. I spent some time on the beach before heading back to Glendale. I chose to stop by the Nicole Simpson murder scene before getting to the Embassy Suites. It was relatively early, so I chose to shop at the Glendale Galleria for a bit before retiring to the room. I had a few beers, watched a little TV, and some some really restful sleep.

I got up Friday and got over to Amoeba. I had to stop and was able to find a number of cds that I was missing. It was close to the studio, so I finished up and headed back over there. I spent the majority of the day at the studio and it was a fucking blast. I got to see Greg being passionate about his Brewers, played some Magic with Gavin, caught up more with everyone, and just loved the vibe. I left just after 10 and then headed over to Burbank for the evening.

Saturday was my travel day. I got breakfast and did a little shopping in the area. I made the drive back to Phoenix and survived a couple of big storms. The trip wasn't long, but it was one that I needed. I'm happy that I had the chance to go.
