Mikey Erg has spent years touring with other bands. In that time, he's written a number of songs that he finally got around to recording. The end result is Tentative Decisions. He was out on tour to support the album and made his way through Phoenix.

I'd seen that he was coming through and was excited to hear him playing the new songs. The album is great and I was very happy to hear that it did not just sound like an Ergs! album. The chance to see these songs live and solo was going to be a great time.

I worked all day and then headed down to the venue. They had all just gotten in and were finishing up the load in and sound check. I hung around for a little while until Mike was ready to go. Mike and I headed out to Tempe Marketplace to find dinner before the show. After an exhaustive search, we landed on Asian food. We grubbed down and then headed back to the venue for the show.

Mike opened the show, playing his set solo. He sounded great and hearing the songs from the album in a stripped down manner was a lot of fun. The crowd was kind of sparse, but it was an early show and during the week. Mike closed out and then headed out front to have a few drinks.

Sam Russo was next up. He is a singer/songwriter from England and a hell of a guitarist. I was surprised to see that he had some fans in the crowd that knew his lyrics. He wrapped up and made way for The Copyrights. Mike was playing drums for them and headed back to the stage.

The Copyrights set was great and full of energy. The crowd had started to pack in by now and they were all into the set. They played for almost an hour and then turned the stage over to The Falcon. The Falcon was a great band and this was my first time seeing them. Mike and I watched from out front and had a few drinks.

Sadly, the night came to a close around midnight. Mike had to get to the hotel and I had to get home to grab some sleep. It was another great hang and I look forward to seeing him soon at The Fest.
