The Vandals And Misfits In Phoenix

The Vandals came back into town this November. Work has been crazy, so I was unsure if I was going to be able to make it. Luckily, I was and it was a great time.

I got down to the Celebrity Theater pretty early. It was actually raining, which is a rarity for Phoenix. I got parked and headed into the venue. I ran into Gavin, whom I hadn't seen in a while. We sat outside for a bit and caught up on how life had been and what had changed since we last saw each other. The rain was starting to pick up, so we headed inside. I found Brooks, Joe, and Warren. I caught up with Brooks for a while, discussing my earlier world tour. The band had a long trip in so they were heading to the hotel for a bit.

By now i was pretty hungry. I got a hold of Adrienne and hung out with her for a while, doing some shopping and grabbing some food. It was a fairly early show, so I said goodbye to her and headed back to the venue. I got there in time to catch a few of the opening bands. Guttermouth played a decent set. I hadn't seen them in a few years, so it was quite nostalgic. Strung Out was next. I've probably seen them on Warped Tour before, but can't remember. They played great and made the most of the stage.

The Vandals finally hit the stage. The stage would rotate 2 revolutions in one direction and then rotate back. It was pretty disorienting, but the band played fantastically anyways. They had a great time with the crowd and played all of the songs that I was looking for. The finale, with Warren playing drums, bass, and guitar all at once was pretty amazing.

The Misfits hit the stage next. I had met them earlier in the night and they were all really nice guys, despite the makeup. They hit the stage and started tearing through the favorites. I caught 4 or 5 songs. By then, the Vandals were heading back to the hotel and I was pretty tired. I said goodbye to the gang and hopped back in the car to head home.
